Reviews
AutomobileCars.comOne Liner
...there's probably no car that better communicates what's going on [with the road] than the 3-series.
Edmunds.comComparison
The larger Infiniti G35 sedan puts its extra overall length and height to good use by offering a cabin that doesn't feel as tight as the 3 Series, whether in the front or rear seats.
Least Liked
If the 3 Series sedan and wagons have a significant downfall, it's on the inside. The issue is not one of material quality or craftsmanship, which is mostly good, but of overall roominess.
New Car Test DriveOne Liner
Whether your priority is an engaging driving experience, an elegant cabin environment or simply curbside prestige, this car delivers in spades.
Most Liked
Beyond simply feeling rock-solid when hustled around turns, this car communicates with the driver in a manner that inspires confidence no matter what kind of driving you're doing. [The 2009 328i's] inline six-cylinder engine provides enough power for all but the most demanding drivers.
Comparison
Rather than dismissing the 328i as BMW's entry-level sport sedan, it's best to think of it as a 335i with less motor.
WashingtonPost.comLeast Liked
The 3-Series has no keyed ignition switch...The driver just pushes the start button, and pushes it again when it's time to get out. Still, we'd prefer a traditional key.
Model ReviewsOne Liner
...a superbly engineered and crafted automobile, a total joy to drive.
Most Liked
It was the sheer smoothness of it all -- the ease with which the 328i consumed highways, its dance-like nimbleness in city traffic. The car went exactly where pointed -- no wavering, wobbling or hesitation, just excellent directional stability at any speed.
The BMW 328i delivers a special mix of sporting performance, practicality and European luxury in a compact package. It's the car that defines 'sport sedan,' and the benchmark every luxury car maker from Acura to Volvo aims at when it develops an entry-level luxury sport sedan. The rear-wheel drive 328i is available in coupe, sedan, wagon and convertible bodies, while the all-wheel drive 328i xDrive is available in coupe, sedan and wagon only. Power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that puts out 230 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on all variations, with a six-speed automatic transmission optional. Standard safety features include six airbags, four wheel ABS disc brakes with adaptive brakelights, traction and stability control, as well as pop-up roll-over protection on the convertible. For 2010, HD Radio has been added as standard equipment to all 328 models.
